FINAL FINISHING

Polishing, rhodium plating and inspection. Every piece is finished to luxury standards and checked one last time before it leaves our NYC atelier, so what you receive is ready to wear and built to last.

The Last Step

After stone setting each unit is polished, plated (when applicable) and inspected. This is where we remove any tool marks, bring out the metal’s lustre, and ensure every detail meets the agreed master. We don’t rush finishing; it’s the last gate before QC sign-off and pack-out.

Polishing

We polish to the finish you want: high shine (mirror), satin (brushed) or matte. Many production jewellery and classic pieces get a high shine; satin and matte are popular for a softer, contemporary look. We can also combine finishes, for example, a satin band with a polished head, so the piece has depth and contrast. The choice is part of your design conversation from the start.

Rhodium Plating

White gold is often rhodium-plated for a bright, silvery finish. Rhodium is a hard, white metal that resists tarnish; over time the plating may wear and the underlying white gold will show through. When that happens you can bring the piece back for replating, we offer this as part of our services. Yellow and rose gold are not plated; they keep their natural colour.

Inspection

Before any unit leaves we do a final inspection: stones secure, clasps and hinges working, no sharp edges or defects. We also check that the piece matches the approved design and that documentation (certificates, assay where applicable) is ready. Only then does it go to you, whether you’re picking up in our NYC studio or receiving it by secure delivery.

From Start to Finish Under One Roof

Final finishing is the last step in a chain that begins with your trade briefing and runs through CAD, prototype, casting and setting. Because finishing runs in our Diamond District atelier, we control quality at every stage with one programme owner. That’s the Kismet difference.
